Whatever he is engaging folks relating experiences to today common sense questions and to that focus, maybe I can relate current viable questions to past ideas to future hi tech upfit……… Hey, a big definition but it seems rediscovering something that has passed the test of time …..may grow thru that sort of communication.

So our latest video discusses the new 5500 and 7000watt Onan generators offered. As most know, we have been keen on the Honda water cooled EV-6010 and 4010 commercial duty generators for over 20 years. That’s a long time to stay with a product and I will say in all that time we have had awesome results both in performance as well as reliability…..but how long can “Sea Bisquit” win the Kentucky Derby?
The water cooled Honda series is no longer supported by Honda. True, the units are still working like the champs they are but with new projects, it’s not the best bet to reuse old equipment when building up fresh machines.
Oh Man…… It’s an Onan! Let’s face it, Onan owns the RV generator market. An RV generator has a few unique requirements, it has to be happy working in a confined hole, be a 100% duty cycle rating and run smooth and QUIET! And bunky, all that is hard to do now that the EPA has gotten involved.
So….what to do now that your WWII 2 cylinder pump motor has finally broken enough to cause you heartache? If it’s NOW and it needs to be effective install a new Onan and worry about the fifty-million other things that go along with having one of these……watch the video and do it.
If you are one interested to see what else there is trying to follow the new technology and trends……..if that you please understand you will be going around possibly performance, convienance, reliability, noise and/or cost to try something else.
Ok, you want to read on? On the low priced side, a 3500watt Harbour Freight “Preditor” portable generator can be fitted from our previous Honda guru Pinellas Power Products with a wireless remote and extended fuel delivery kit to make that Peditor a viable product. A standby unit, when “boondocking” roll the unit out into the woods covering it with a sound enclosure. They seem quiet enough and will work enclosed in all but the worst conditions.
Like I said, you will be playing dice with some of the requirement needed but it may work for you….. I meant doing that way IS cheap enough.
Now, what if you wanna invest a little more into technology

So you wanna do away with generator……ME TOO! Having 2 fire breathing monsters having to run to make my wife comfortable seems wasteful. Not to assure my wife’s comfort because there IS no price too high for that!
But realistically speaking, solar linked to inverters and batteries is to the point if we need to make 1 roof AC , split unit or some other appliance to heat or cool us can be done minimally without a generator.
If I could post pics I would show you our first battery/inverter system which WILL start off with a generator but with progress the system will cut ties down the road to be without it.
Does it work? Probably…. Is it cheap? No. Will it last? We’ll see won’t we. The system will have the possibility to transition which I feel at this point is the best first step.
A hybrid, generator as backup with the new technology as primary will be our first step.
So……where are you and what do you wanna do? The great thing is we are beginning to see options….and that’s the good part of this. Stay tuned
