Vintage RV & Motorhome restorations - "The GMC Coop"

Here’s something you may or may not know about…….

If you do a nd know there here:

If your wipers run slow and you wheels Saul when you turn the steering wheel…….this may help.

Pressure isn’t flow and if the screen filter in the system is partially clogged…..there ya go.

Where is this system filter? The left hose going into the hydraulic wiper motor is an AN-6 fitting threaded onto the long adapter pipe.  The right side hose is your return (low pressure) back to the ps pump.

That’s not an adapter, it’s a screen cylinder filter holder.  Here it is apart. That’s the filter screen and it’s retainer plug on the far right.  That’s what that adapter looking fitting looked like cleaned.

We remove this filter screen and plug replcing the fitting with the small one there to its left.  Then we cut (usually this return hose is petrified so get new hose) and put the in line transmission filter there in the low pressure return line.  That’s a much more flowing filter…less restriction and all that.

Here’s what it looks like installed with a new AN-6 fitting hose and new black return rubberyou can see the filter @ 12″ down the black hose.  There is one other hose that should be replaced then guess what…….. The entire system is more reliable.  Until the pump goes out , the wiper motor blows its paddle seal and the steering box started leaking!!!!!……… The question is never what to do….its where to stop!

Hope this helps………..
