GMC Motorhome, why maintenancw and more

Got some neat things to show you, processed several neat things…. I hope I can get to them all…..

Smaller talks first…. Hey Michael, I took the first load of suspension parts to the powder coater yesterday.  morin-powder-coating-11  Guys, all of these pieces/parts to the new Branscomb all disc, reaction arm, 2 wheel E. Brake system …. the quad bag system ANG the complete rear suspension… bogy boxes, swingarms, hobs, discs, calipers,…. crap, whatelse are all going to the powder coater fo us to build a show, concourse finish complete front AND rear suspension and steering system……..  Yes, really!  My buddies doing the work are car freaks on their own.. pulling up with this load in Larry brought out his crew  Sorry no pics but you know I have to blow the bags and drop the rear door onto the ground after pulling in!  larry-back-door-5  Sorry but when you get the chance to impress folks in your business you just havta…  I think they know the work we expect is to be serious…

BRAKES

Brakes just kill me!  Check this out and this is why you constant vigilance and maintenance checks are important.  And I hate to use this awesome coach that Adrian just bought and that I actually built @ 5 years ago …. but I need to for the sake of the rest of you and to show the level his coach will be ready to party when he gets it….  On doing the “B’s & B’s” as I call it…. that’s a serious inspection of the bearings and brakes on all 6 wheels…. danny-working-10

and a gorgeous machine Sport Billy is and he has been parked in an auto dealersip warehouse only going to home game taildate parties.. party to dinner… stuff like it being a big ole limo for for…. and the coach was actually trailered to us here in Florida which we have already found could have been a really good idea…. Here is one of the rear inner wheel bearings…. 5 years old with no miles….  A quality bearing assembly from a quality manufacturer  adrian-brakes-5

Makes ya wanna say Hmmmm…..  We installed that bearing!  I was there….. Either I’m a raging fool …. some opinions vary…. or the Motorhome God is among us…….  all I can say it’s a great thing to chack your “B’s & B’s” from time to time.  You just need to know this stuff about the 12,000 pound projectile you’re strapped into!  adrian-brakes-4

Good, correct KYB shocks, no CV joint leaking…. Sorry Adrian, I’m not powder coating your calipers like Michael wants but you have the new Delco, organick, riveted pades… our braided  stainless steel covered Teflon lined front and rear brake hoses but the rest of those drum brakes have been renewed along with all the bearings checked.  I think that was the only damaged bearing.  adrian-brakes-2  During the 3 step flush and bleed process  (that’s a full gravity bleed then a pressure vacuum bleed sucking the fluid through and end up with the conventional “pump it up… hold… floor.. pump it up….”  You know…. Step 1:  Gravity bleed the system…  Which means open up each bleeder one at a time on each wheel and allow fluid to flow from the brake master to that wheel. Each one seperatly……In the gravity bleed portion…..”If it won’t flow, it won’t go”  If all 6 wheels will not freely flow fluid there’s an issue.  Could be a 40 year old hose was acceptable 5 years ago but after being close to the Gulf, it has some form of what BBq does to clog arteries… for whatever reason we need to go back to the brake master cylinder it came in with which BTW worked perfectly … I drove it a couple of miles just to show it off!  Brakes felt great….. there ya go…..  adrian-brakes-1

See the question is NOT how far are you on the list of things to do….. rather it’s where do we stop!  So now we will gravity bleed the brake master to the new combination valve….  combo-valve-5 and from there gravity bleed each line one at a time to find the clog.  Old vehicles need this…… We need to drink those weird chocolate shakes and take your pills on time….. wasn’t like the ole days…..

So for Adrian’s sake, we’ll get to the bottom of this…. stay tuned for more…..

Willie & Nancy’s interior will have to go into high gear now.  We have the wall panels, headliner panels, bulkheads and most of the plumbing is done…. why does this sound like a line from “The Blues Brothers”?  Anyway… ants on a cake….. stink on whatever… sticky on tape  we’re on hammering this interior and learning how to do this type of interior  white-walls-first-look-3  Gotta go.. I have a job in the mess too!  See ya tomorrow… Lemme leave ya with how I always have a reliable jump battery and charging capability… an extremely hi-teck solution… and convienant too!  Remember how your Dad put that new fangles color TV right on top of the old console B/W because it matched the décor….  I really like that old battery charger we had… it was an ole reliable and the added pole handle made it where you could drag it standing upright.  The new fancy… “% of charge readout” and all charger is hitching a ride on Ole Reliable… and it’s weight makes it pull well!  10-13-16-morning-1.
