GMC Motorhome: Wanted to answer some of your questions on yesterdays post (UPDATED II)

…………. I’m excited so many made it through all of that and though enough of the subject to ask several good questions.

Yes, the first mistake here was me not asking more questions before we started work.  Yes, the bushings in the dust were loose and I could see even a competent mechanic making the diagnoses that led the customer to believe he had ignition issues.

It was the infamous crack between the secondary ports that caused all this confusion.  The concave intake manifold allows the GMC to have a flat engine cover.  The only one made with this design ….flaw I would call it.  Over time, the extreme heat this motor generates pulling 12,000 pounds!  Too much heat thru the middle of the intake manifold causes it to crack at the weakest point.  If your intake manifold has not had the exhaust crossover ports blocked off you shoud and it will be an issue as the motor ages.  Do it before you’re dead on the side of the road trying to figure out what happened…….like the unfortunate guy.

And yes, I really do think they thought we were “loading him up”.  If you know how I take things very personal…..that was probably the most hurtful of this.   Did they blame us?  I think so.

This is a poster child for why you need to constantly check, maintain and know your coach.  Its like a toddler…….I swear, if you had an old car you would give it e exercise every once in a while…..you have way more systems to keep up with….having 10 year old tire has no excuse.

Ok, I hope the gut made it ok…..I feel bad has plans had to be aborted but that motorhome needed more love maybe than he was hoping for.  Its not his fault, he has lived in it maybe but not with it.

Truly thes3 things will drive broken…..its a phrase I at least use all the time.  They work so well that we miss maintenance and all sorts of stuff……these are children and you are their steward.

If you do not keep up with it this happens.  Here I’ve spent 2 posts on this but I’m telling you these simple ideas would save so much stress…….annnnnteccccipation ant heartache.  Its what it’s about and when the coach doesn’t service you ……please move it on along the line of enthusiasts.

One such coach is offered for sale now.  I saw it being built literally “frame off” at Colby Motor Company…..a completely new twin bed , Seperate shower ( center tally Royale floor plan) but new in 1995.  Its Benn matitulously kept by a retired overseas airline pilot…..garage kept…….I’ve known the last quality people owners and now it’s available right out of its garages storage!  I saw a listing last night……WHAT a deal!  Sorry I can’t quote something I can’t remember but is you understand the more you spend the more value you get…….come here tomorrow morning when I figure out how to show you this silver/ teal strip coach……do you have what it takes to get involved?  See the page here tomorrow …Don G. I’m talking about you!

Tomorrow is a new day…..lets go there next
