Seemingly taking longer than the Mueller Investigation, we ARE getting somewhere on the new dash AC/heat system….well that but here the MacDaddy dash going into Texas Tux is looking lile something. The wiring out the front still mean there is some final wiring and the senders need to be swapped out..new ones for other things installed the MacDaddy dash is in, wires, powered, radio playing even Tom’s digital front wheel bearing monitor module is in
Driver vision is something like this
These new double DIN radios are amazing
For $200 you get: 7″LCD video screen, CD and DVD playback, USB, SD card or mini phone input. Blue tooth, remote, hi power (whatever that means) and will direct link to a Droid cell phone to be active on the screen! For $200? That’s stupid, insane, small $ cheap!
Texas Tux will get it’s new toll booth windows now that I’m ready to install the refinished side panels.
The most time consuming part of the toll booth window install is removing the side panels to access the window pinch mold
Yeah, I know it’s not cheap…$450 each or $850 for both but man…the first time I sat in the GMC driver seat I remember thinking “what’s with this stupid fixed upper window?” Having a 9″ full opening window you can rest easy now
NOT NOW Don, you still need to drive home! OK, that’s enough gratuitous advertising….Jim K. at Applied also has them……Jeff Sirum too.
So continuing the dash AC/heat projects I’ll go back to Ruby while the aftermarket steering column is being made also getting the new steering shaft designed. These things are way beyond their life span
Stay tuned……
So Miss Piggy getting offloaded we find a badass drive train aching to have something new to do Yeah, only a 1 wheel wonder, we could install a “Lincoln locker” for the future! A little more removed, Jared hops up on the seat and has some fun
What are we going to do with this ex-37″ Pace Arrow front engine gasser?
Careful for the spoiler alert but I hope to have this coach up on Miss Piggy for the Tallahassee GMCMI convention early next year
Hey, why not! Stay tuned…..
You’ve gotta have fun doing this stuff!
On other stuff, Katlyn was pulling down a rear suspension for a new quad bag system but ran into a real problem. First thing she pulled on the “TrueTrack” system previously installed. Let me be very clear here, I do not recommend this system. It’s supposed to hold the forward tracking swing arm straight. Funny thing though it was installed on the back wheels. Listen…these swing arms have a flex rate to them that allows the tandem wheel set up to bent around corners. Pulling this system in negates that
Yeah, not a good thing but look what happened when we took it off
Not to mention it has those too big brake shoes but those backing plates are supposed to be in line! The “true track” had been put on the hold straight the worn out bogy pin
So yeah, it’s cheaper than actually replacing the worn out pins but just purchasing this coach, the new owners had no idea! Now we have to remove the rear suspension, replace the pins BEFORE we can install the quad bag system…..AND check this out….whoever did the last brake job welded in everything….yes, welded in the brackets and springs!
Katlyn found a full set of original brake backing plates in our core coral and went about cleaning them up….first was pressure washing, we could sand blant now but before that piles of nasty has to be ground off Here you can see the steps of cleaning and the refinished backing plate ready to be reused
The original plates were trashed, good thing replacing those comes with breaking down the entire bogy and rear suspension, brakes and bearing we were already slotted to work on .
Dug Larry from out back to pick up some plywood and carpet.Felt good to get behind his seat…I still love the flames! We’re looking soon to have a new job for Larry….that will need to stay a secret until we have the plans worked out…..yes, another “fun job”…stay tuned……
The final touches on Louis recent purchase is going on. We’ve polished up his Alcoas which accompany the new textured rocker panels and bumpers. It gets a quad bag system of course
and new brakes, bearings and a 2 wheel Ebrake system, KYB shocks and of course Mr. Quad Bagger!
Coming in this morning still dark I see another new face in the darkness. This is “Uncle Al’s” coach. Look up (Al Keene weight lifter)…..of long ago. Now looking a bit more like Popeye he loves his GMC and we hope to get him back into it soon….wish us luck

I agree. The price of that radio can’t be beat! Good read!
How can you tell if the bogie pin is worn out?
