I certainly hope allyouall have made plans for this Holiday weekend. I’m taking out JayGee with Janie to see what trouble we can get into. BTW, for you new guys who I’ve recently talked to saying on buying a GMC…get something that makes you happy and make it yours……opinions vary on The Bounds command ship but hey, it matches the side car bike and folks usually know when we arrive So whatever “blows your dress up” is what you should seek!
Should be a liitle something for everyone today….the second version of the service loop ATC fuse block and a trip to our machine shop says another Co-op/Koba roller cam 455 is about to be lovingly assembled by Drew Koba. This motor goes into a mobile childs learning center from what I was told. Yes, I am shipping this motor which is something I don’t normally offer anymore. Just too many variable involved in the installation of a motor to get involved in a long distance project like that but because of the nature and use of the coach AND a good conversation with the install group….I’m gonna do it this time…….so whatever, as I work with the service loop concept on these new ATC fuse blocks, the harness is evolving learning a bit more on each install. Here is Texas Tux original fuse block with the MacDaddy dash and accessories wired in old way. Hey, I’m OK with is but it still relies on those old glass fusesAnd here is the glove box are with the ATC fuse block wired in with it’s service loop
and now with the service loop extended to work on the thing
A little cleaner the block drops straight out rather than the 90 degree drop on Ruby….I’ll go back……. Hey and somehow yesterday when I wasn’t looking, Texas Tux new toll booth windows were installed…..thanks Junior!
Got Texas Tux in and checked out late yesterday evening…… hey, I may leave a little early today for the holiday…..we all need a little perk once in a while…SSSHHhhhh……..
As I was saying up top, I went by Mikes yesterday to see how the machine work on out next 455 roller motor was coming along….the customer is biting at the bit to get this motor in his machine. Here is the finished block…fresh out of the line bore machine ready to go Nice….. there are 2 main parts to any motor like this…the block and the heads. Now that the block is ready for assembly, the heads are off the valve seating machine and ready for assembly.
Man, that’s such a nice assembly room Mike has…so clean, neat, continuous bench height…. tools and cool pics hanging……. Like our building, Mike has set up his own toy barn and this is what he likes to do……… Kinda like the newpaper reporter asking a just retired MBL player….Sir, would you play another year if they gave you a million dollars?…….Son, I’d do it fer nothin! If they’d let me!……
All exhaust valves are new with new seats. The blue dye is how you know you have a good seat on the valve. When the valve and the seat have good purchase…it leave a even silver ring like this
All valves seated, both heads will get springs, keepers then pressure test before it will go to Drew
Not long now on this motor so stay tuned.
Here is another motor we “resurrected” falling short of a full rebuild and working with what the coach came in with…I’m not that excited about doing this but hey …it was there!!!! The coach came in with the usual poor performance as the motor got hot……..yep, you guessed it, the obligatory crack in the intake
That one was really bubbling exhaust gasses! Unfortunatley being a 455, we must use the original style “concave” intake if we are to have a flat floor (no “doghouse bump” in the floor. Bummer…..there are no good, original concave intakes anywhere to be found…the sevond option is to install a new aluminum Edelbrock standard height intake manifold
And with that ()&$### Edelbrock off shelf carb………I won’t say it but it will run well. BTW…., with the new HEI dist. intake, plugs, wirs and everything we had to do to get the motor reliable…not all my way but that’s OK……. the coach is for sale for $10,000. Is a party bus for the UF Gators….not burned up but used and well kept. If you have interest give me a call
I think it’s a pretty good buy….hey but opinions always vary………. U make your own picking up that puppy in the window!
So one last neat thing….as I’ve said before it we can’t have a good time doing this…… why do it? So what would our new moto and tranny motor stand gets grafted to the back of this 76 Mercedes 450SL
SSSssHHHHhhhh…… the idea is brewing…….hey and why is this propped up on that ambulance trailer?
Hmmm…another skunkworks project…..what could we put THAT on?
Hmmmmm……..
