…………there was a thread stated on Facebook this morning that was I feel as astute observation on the condition of the GMC community. The question was will the news of another GMC specialty shop closing be a mark of the future for the GMC?
This is a real situation, with Southland retiring, the east coast looses a real GMC supporter. As always age was a factor but for a young business looking to take the market share that is now open……its just not there, the next generation of enthusiasts are not stepping up. Why? There’s no money in this business……..not as the community has been.
The good news for us is in diversifying into other interests that use similar talents. We don’t sell new Motorhomes….one GMC dealer tried that…….we’re not even servicing those other TV’s, once you get used to all of that big money you can’t go back into these classic coaches….its always all about the money! Us going into other vintage vehicles and even old tv’s my guys keep their heads and tools in unique stuff and I feel it’s what has saved us.
Keeping our team challenged and focused we are keeping OUR dream alive. This is not crying poormouth, these are the realities of a business like this. You can be an enthusiast but don’t forget for those you seek help from things are a bit different.
We are here supporting this machine, we need you out there supporting us and the rest of the GMC community or we too will need to pay the light bill some other way.
The future of all of this is really up to you. We are here doing this trying to make a living from doing it. I hope I can pass this business on myself when I decide to hang up MY skates! Time will tell. I’ve blown the morning in this…….like I said maybe boring to some but if you want to see the GMC continue on into the future we all need to work together on this.
Its about staying alive and doing fun things……but it also has to be about the money too. Really, thanks for your support….we make mistakes but I work hard to be fair……that’s really all we all CAN do. See you tomorrow and thanks for dropping by……
