GMC Motorhome: OK, now close your eyes, click your heals 3 times and repeat after me……..there’s no place like home, there’s no place like home…..THERE’S NO PLACE LIKE HOME!……….

Ruby has been that lost slipper for 46 years, she was a prototype….#41 to be exact.  She was almost crushed…..saved Cedric read the book and now wanted to be steward and being that Ruby slipper back.  4 years and piles of blood, sweat and tears, Ruby is polished up ready for her closeup!CCedric and his auntorage has arrived in the states from the UK and pretty soon…..you are seeing it first…….Ruby will be starting her new life with her new family…..and it all behind now!

The exterior of Ruby shows no clue this is a 1973 prototype motorhome, the tail is how do you say …..cleanthere’s no clue this is a 1973 motorhome……..and it’s not!  There’s an AM General version of the iconic 6.5 GM turbo-diesel under the flat floor in Rubya corroboration between Manny Travao and AM General, there was much thought and special talent put into making this mechanically injected, turbo-diesel power plant mate up perfectly to our original 425 automatic transmission.

The Kubota 2 cylinder marine application diesel generator fit like Ruby’s white glove at the ballfor get those 2, original steel fuel tanks, Ruby sucks diesel from a 50 gallon aluminum fuel tank under the dedicated bed.  Here, come on in and take a look at Ruby’s innards:wwhich of course was totally rebuilt….new cabinets…..everything!  Us motorheads go right to the dash where the “MacDaddy” is there waitingthe original, little used original glove box door corners still in tack show off the vents of the new hurricane dash ac/heat systemlpoking back, the galley with its flush induction cooktop and hide away euro style sink makes for a clean Avonite countertoplooking back forward…..what can I sayts nice!  The dinette also sports an Avonite (bowling ball material) countertop  One option I have been holding on to for just the right restoration and this one is iti know it doesn’t look like much but it’s the small thing too that make Ruby what she isyes…..an original. GMC exterior thermometer!  Yeah baby, only the best for Ruby!

The electrical is all mine and I’m proud of the outcome

Truly, this is a special machine……destined for the UK where it should also turn a few headsAalmost 4 years of work, not the MOST money I’ve ever put into a GMC restoration because they were really into the stratosphere in customization……Ruby is the best example I’ve ever done capturing the essence of what the original GMC Motorhome design.  One of the prototypes the GMC was made from, I got the high honor to make Ruby again be what it was before……… the on the pedestal example of a true GMC Motorhome……that’s what Ruby is my friends and it all starts today.  I came in late on this day off Friday for this event.  Took home Mutcades so I could get in the proper mood for this daywe’re all here….Jared messing with “Tin Soldier”Phillip here helping too but doing something else to his newest bed liner creation truckYeah right?  In here to …….well I’m here!  Cedric and company should be here soon to see Ruby and its a beautiful day in the neighborhood!  Mark this one down………I know Cedric and Ruby will remember this day.

See you guys later and I just can’t tell you how I appreciate your support………as that mix falls
