GMC Motorhome, entry door trim out

Yesterday I got to do something I enjoy and works best when I not pulled away as I am during the week.  The first experience someone has entering your motorhome is the inside of the entry door.  Over the years this first impression has been one I’ve worked hard to make pleasurable and right now I have 2 projects who need their “doors done”.  One is to be mild the other wild so lemme show you what we did:

On “Savory Brown” the coaches name says it best for me… the word “Savoy” to me says cool and smooth… unpretentious.  Yeah, I know it’s a little deep for a motorhome name hey but that’s the way it happens….  We want understated, effective and clean  Savor Brown sports a custom painted to match original Birch screen door resurrected.  It all needs to come together… here is the door with the screen door open and closed:

bill-door-5.  bill-door-6

Thank you for the idea Cal, his window treatment will be placed on the screen door.  Thhe woodgrain lower matches the interior woorgrain, the center padded panel and door latch panel carry the upholstery material and the upper light color is the wall finish in laminate.  Same colors AND material textures.

Now Bill’s “Fandango” has a little different mandate… it needs to bling a little.  The original latch panel was on the rusty and nasty side

But with a little of playing around I’m carrying the exterior paint colors through the inside panel with felt backed “pleather” vinyl.  First cutting the emergency lock mechanism access opening  bill-door-4  Then, with a little vinyl playing and refinishing the wood handle to match the interior woods.. I’ll work on getting this trick panel in today  bill-door-3  Stay tuned…..

So rode in on the Honda this morning before dawn…. 51 degrees here in the wind helps your remember you’re alive.  It’s only 3 1/2 miles so I’m not risking turning into a popsicle but it was nippy.  A 1/2 order (God help someone who ever orders a full order of that secrete) of biscuits-n-gravy and I’ll be on task.

On Patreon… I hope to do our first content video tomorrow.  Keep checking in and please give me your input when I get it up.  The site will be all open for now with soon member pages and more videos.  You gotts walk before you run so stay tuned.
