We’re doing our due diligence working up this new dash AC/heat system. With 3 coaches in house, I’m using 2 of them to engineer in what we do to be sure it’s documented well… then the 3rd coach will verify all the data created. Now with Texas Tux down to it’s root mean and the primary 12 volt wiring reinstalled and sorted
it’s now time to clean up from that operation and move back to Ruby for it’s primary 12 volt wiring In cleaning up I’m also consolidating all of this old heater box related parts
Having the 2 heater boxes…1 from a 1973 prototype and 1 from a 76 type 2 system I found they are both based on the same wacky-nu-nu convoluted box
Which is the main component we’re throwing out!
Now back to Ruby, another found big difference in every other GMC I’ve worked with …. the aluminum component firewall plate is black…. everyone I’ve ever worked with is clear aluminum Everything out now, it’s much easier to see
Today I’ll be building up Ruby’s dash reinstalling circuits not associated with the dash AC getting it to where Texas Tux is on it’s rewiring process.
No patterns yesterday so I hope getting the battery wiring done the patterns will come next which is what we need…… stay tuned. BTW, it’s kinda neat…. had 2 more of you guys watching call up and want to know more on the project…. brother you are seeing it as it happens to wait and give me a call about getting this yourself after we have it documented. I will tell you though the project really needs to happen in conjunction with a Mac Dash install or at least redoing a Mac dash which the 3rd unit I will install will get. Like I said, stay tuned, it’s starting to get interesting….
Seems like the ambulance remount project may be coming in today……. now I KNOW you’ll have a blast watching THAT “restoration”! This process “remount” is recycling the JAN spec aluminum ambulance work box and remounting it to an all new 2017 chassis… new LED lights, paint, vinyl wrap and all that. These are well accepted and used throughout the country. Doing this business between working with GMC’s this too can be done at The Co-op. 20G force stretches…. yep that too so really stay tuned for that!
Good thing I took a good weekend off! Holy Moley, it’s really happening around here now!
Like I’ve said before don’t worry…. I work with the GMC because I like them and will keep that up but there are so many other more productive projects our labor force has the talents for……. wouldn’t you? I mean folks find more sometimes in other coaches… doesn’t mean they blow off their love for the classics ….. Life and business must be proactive or they decline…. I mean what’s in YOUR wallet and all that……. you have to stay on the wave of trends…… wax up your board, the waves are kicking up… some chop but strong sets…… see ya tomorrow…… .
Just wonder what brand AC you are going to use. I’ve Used about all the brands on the market and find that Vintage Air is the most dependable and most efficient. Also they still offer a large, mostly manual, one with a very dependable control unit.
