Yesterday was packed with things pulling me away from my focus, I know it happens in your life too and we all learn to roll with it. Everything INCLUDING the other stuff has to be done so u do it.
Pretty wordy to say I had alote to do! While yes, today is my day off but with all of the holiday off time we’ve all been enjoying I need a “leg up” weekend to catch some things up PLUS I’ve been really wanting to get into a project I’d say years in the building……tell ya bout that later. So today I’m left alone to do something I really personally enjoy……doing a dash! And this one is a very special one. A second update, this will be the final iteration of what John and Julie have been working toward putting their coach together. It will now be “just like I wanted” and how many times in this life can you have that?
Step 1 of Baby Blues new dash is to take the old one apart……well FIRST thing is to move that awesome 18″ custom burl/ leather and chrome “big boy” steering wheel we had installed a year or so ago. Its actually an over the road truck wheel, dudded up and made to fit our coachpretry good looking dash already I know but now sporting FiTech, the original speedo being over 10mph off, no fuel or boost switches needed because of all his other cool new stuff….that tells-tale panel not really telling u much his original dash is not as useful as it could be. So with that steering wheel out of the way we go in
w.e need to be careful taking things apart, there had been some deterioration of the plastic supports I had stabilized before, taking things apart again could cause troubles. The entire dash “donut” must be removed to plasma cut out for the new cluster.
looks like a mess I know but taking things down this far so many things can be sorted out. Jared using some of this new super epoxy panel bond stuff repairs 2 cracks in the plastic supports that had occurred since the last time I was into things
T.hat step done, I’m dropping the steering column 1 1/2″ off the dash to put the tilt function of the column down a bit. If you’re like me, the tilt always stays down……and needs to go down farther…….were taking care of that……..and here is where I had to stop last night. Now maybe you can see why I’m working today…..just wayyy too much fun here, so ill do more pics for ya tomorrow on this.
Now for something I’d liken to opening up that proverbial “Pandoras box”…….. For several years ice tried to communicate the excitement these classic machines gives us and have done several videos on subjects as I could find folks to help me through the internet gauntlet.
Each time these folks did their best to help and many have…….but in all that time I’ve lost track of many of the videos….Patreon is less than easy to navigate and with wanting to do even more we’re struggling to figure out a fresh format and hey, where did all those old videos go anyway!
I found them and why they all ended up here I don’t know but the new one I did this week titled ” Body Sag All Coaches” showed up in this spot too. So go to YouTube, search for “jimbounds” all small letters …1 word. It looks like somehow a pile of the old videos are hanging out there……scroll down to find this new one and watch it Not on a phone but on a larger screen……..it’s pretty enlightening I think.
Ok, breakfast down its diver down for me in Baby Blues dash.
Here is 1 pic of a blessed event that happened yesterday……..ready…..wait for it……our Mercedes motor stand came out of the big house under its own power!.and Phillip is THE MAN for making this happen.
yoh and me both are on the edge of the seat for THIS ONE! Yep, stay tuned……..lemme go have some fun…..see ya later.
