GMC Motorhome, another delivery

If you have With more work getting done means more coaches going home.  After a full mechanical update to include a quad bag system and FiTech fuel injection, Marlin pulls away bound for home Marlin done 8 Sounds weird but after having your hands so deep into a coach it’s an odd feeling seeing them take out Marlin done 10

This is the project we found that case of “Keebler cookies” in the engine valley when the intake was lifted  Marlin intake 4

and a seriously loose timing chain Marlin intake 15A new double roller chain Marlin intake 27And a cleaned, checked and exhaust blockoff on the intake before the FiTech went on was a must Marlin intake 19 Then came the big deal FiTech fuel injection Marlin FiTech 5  last week we had 3 of the FiTechs head out.  We’re gaining knowledge in the field on the fi performance.  Stay tuned for a download on all that.

I had the weekend to do some of the things only I do…… We said goodbye to the very 80’s front end look of JD’s coach.  With it’s all new paint scheme we just needed to make a change JD headlights 4  First, the headlights had to go back round …. isn’t it funny how style comes back …. we haven’t installed a rectangular headlight set in probably 5 years.  Looking for the best set of original bezels, JayGee was the donor for this upgrade.  All original and unmolested other than painting them military tan they went to a good cause JayGee-new-paint-15  One nice thing whoever installed the rectangular jobs didn’t take out he original adjuster screw threads so swapping back over wasn’t hard JD headlights 3 So with some cleanup and self etching trim silver and black and the new look is there JD grill 4  Next, the grill needed it’s OEM colors to making the makeover complete….. “Back to the future” we goJD grill 1Bumpers, wipers and hood locks and JD’s coach will be ready for it’s “closeup”…. stay tuned…..

And we’re here for more than the GMC, Bruce H. 79 Ford pickup is really taking shape.  From this Bruce truck 3  Accurate detail was the key on this project Bruce truck 5The OEM rims were 16.5″ having the same problem as our GMC’s on wheel size.  We found a set of OEM 16″ steel rimes (wish we could do that for our GMC’s) and with some sand blasting, gun metal grey paint and chome trim ring man I like the look of these puppies Bruce truck 6  Picking up some Firestones today, can’t wait to see them on the truck…. stay tuned you Ford freaks…..

My Amermac 711 truing machine have been getting a workout, here you see new 16 AND 17″ rims and tires ready to go on  truing 2017 1 with another set of 16″ Firestones ready for the process truing 2017 2If you’ve never heard of “Tire Truing” do a little homework.  Our GMC tandem rear wheel design needs truly round tires to not have vibrations.  There’s a huge difference in “balanced” and “trued”.  You can balance a catywonpus tire but you will get a perfect smooth ride, less tire to road friction which means a cooler, longer lasting wear pattern.  Read up on it…..  Lionel true  Oh yeah, I can also take out flat spots like this Flat spot and cupping from a bad alignment.

Another coach looses it’s troll, gets a generator compartment makeover House 6010 2using 1 pound per square foot sheet goods sound insulation before the fresh Honda water cooled EV-6010 moves in House 6010 1which I still feel is a better overall power plant.  Opinions vary and that’s fine…. I KNOW these work well…..

With all the new “steam punk” styling I’ve though it would be neat to build up a GMC in the style….. first I thought I would do the deed on my 1975 Honda Gold Wing….. blackout with no side covers looks like this  GL1000 blackout 1GL1000 blackout 2yeah I know… weird but I’ve already gotten a few looks…. whatever right?

Hey, looking for a 39′ double deck party wagon?  This 2005 Airstream “Party Deck” is 1 of only 18 built and probably the last one some company hasn’t plastered advertising on 8.14.17 morning 3 The open air top deck has a sound system, BBQ grill and full seating and even a padded sundeck!  You will NEVER see another coach like this one!  Maybe we could use a GMC as a towd….. I mean it DOES have 550hp!

Finally, we have 5 projects only in the big house to focus on.  The rest are in paint or mechanical.  I love the space to work…. 18 years of dong all this out under the sky… man this is the way to do it!  .8.14.17 morning 2Currently only 36 coaches on the lot after so many deliveries, new projects coming in all the time like the wedding photo booth Airstream Photo booth 1 and so much more… no problem staying busy … I say this because our process is doing well, if you are interesting in having work on your coach done, give me a call and get on the list …… garbage in, silk purses out …. come by and see how much fun we’re having.

Hey and you Naysayers…. I don’t care, too much good stuff to listen to you…….. Call if I can help, go to www.patreon.com to “Motorhome Rehab Ranch” and have fun there , surf through our web site here and let me know if you have any questions…. thank you all who support us and you know I’ll do my best to support you.  The day is on so you too go out there and do something worthwhile…. see ya tomorrow…..
