We were talking the other day about the next coach to get color and some of the steps in getting the surface ready for color. I mentioned the “guide coat” to look for gouges and non flat areas. Here’s a great pick of the guys doing the passenger side of our next subject.
You can see they are working their way down. You can also see that while they are sanding in front of 2 6′ 3 phase wall fans the sun is a hot thing, hey Ray … I love the Billibong shade hat!
So today, we will have it in the bay… we have to install the thru-bumper receiver hitch and bumpers that will be color keyed to the body for stripe layout. Stay tuned for more….
So Junior is finishing up John’s front motor job of double roller chain, fan clutch and radiator
As you can see, we cut the lower core cupport, welded flanges to the top and lower crossbar which allowed the radiator to drop straight down. Now, bolting the lower cross section of the core support you can access the radiator really easy in the future.
.
While junior turns wrenches below, Danavan & I are refinishing Jihn’s dash. You have to break a few eggs to make an omelet and in this case, the dash has to come apart. Just a little damage to the plastic uprights. Dan got the dash apart and is deep in the dash itself renovation. John brought his coach to us for what I call a “Co-op Dash” like the one I have in my coach “Larry”.
We’re putting our own different twist using our Carbon fiber look overlay
Reworking the gauge clusters we add a full scale vacuum gauge at the top and another full range mechanical transmission temp gauge between the original 2 larger gauge clusters.
With the bezel cut for the new gauges, finishing off can begin with the front beginning to take shape
. Next comes refinishing the “donut” and that’s a job only I do…. well because I like to do it but hey, he brought it to me for my dash… and he’s got it
Stay tuned for more… should finish it up today….
See you guys tomorrow….
I like it !!!!!
