GMC Motorhome, ABS holding tanks

JD’s coach has 2 ABS plastic holding tanks.  jd-mechanical-2  So the question is…. So what IS the 1/2 life on an ABS holding tank?   Answer:  Bout NOW!  Stress carcks at the mounting flange… not a good idea in the first place jd-holding-tank-2  And then there is the ouput flange that always takes the biggest beating…. it’s the part that gets yanked and hit…. yep that’s a leak that’s tried to have been fixed…. no luck  jd-holding-tank-1  Now, you COULD keep trying to fix this but you will never fix the stress cracks so it’s coming out in favor of a single black/grey roto-molded polypropylene tank designed for the standard GM floorplan floorplan coaches.  A much better idea.

And here it is…. “The Great Heap, on wheels.  Should we tarp it?  the-great-heap-1

Drew K., our engine builder, and his buddy, Scott P. came by to do a little motor picking at our makeshift junk yard.  junk-yard-pick-3  Mainlt engine blocks and motor parts are what they dove in for  junk-yard-pick-2  got 4… I’m keeping the “J” heads but they NEED the rest… well, we have no place for it… these parts must be saved….

Met a flat bed at the shop bout 9:30 to offload a coach shipped to us from Texas going to Switzerland.   Yep.. across the pond and up into the hills with it  switzerland-2  Yep, on a flat bed front Texas to be sure nothing was damaged on the trip, this coach will end up a vacation place for some folks from Europe and when done will be taking the baby home to the Swiss Alps  switzerland-1  Will be a great Swiss Ambassador for us.  Stay tuned for the check out…

Gotta go, it’s paperwork Monday for me… gotta pay the bills….  Thanks for coming by…. thanks for being our friend and for the support.  We need all we can get…… man, this place looks like a picker lot!  old-shop-moving-3  Hey, it’s gotta be done…. See ya tomorrow….

on the replacement tank. I installed one a couple years ago, and I have yet to test the exact capacity, but I believe it to be a bit smaller then my original one. It was a prefect fit, however I am overfilling very quickly into the shower.

any thoughts on that? tank was bought direct from ardemco.
