Cooperative Motor Works

  "CMW Associate" Project

Cooperative Motor Works is dedicated to the preservation and renovation of the classic GMC Motorhome.  We have been serving the GMC community for over 6 years offering information, parts and services supporting those that enjoy their GMC coach as well as introducing interested parties to the uniqueness, usefulness and pleasure of this vehicle with great success.

The cornerstone of our business has always been working together with GMC owners fielding questions, offering products and services that compliment their experience with their motorhome.  We pride ourselves on growing the GMC community into an emerging new market - the renovation of the GMC for future service.  To that end, we are organizing the GMC enthusiasts interested in furthering their knowledge and experiences on the coach with the "CMW associate" program.  Members of the Co-op are singling themselves out as not only supporters of the GMC Motorhome but also as supporters of the growth and future of this classic vehicle and , of course, the important work we are doing here at the Co-op.

Lets look at this a minute

A good idea, this program will be a forum for finding out specific information about the coach, asking questions, seeing "how to" demonstrations, posing ideas and sourcing parts and services.  We have worked hard to be your link to everything concerning the GMC since our inception and now we hope to focus in more by including you in this web site, what we post, discuss, demonstrate and offer.  We have always said, "this is your web site" and now we really mean it.  You will have input on what we do here.

GMC Coach Corner  This is a monthly publication offering informative and entertaining stories and articles on selected monthly topics.  We call it an "interactive, internet based, real time monthly magazine.  CMW Members can read then post comments on articles and have their material published for all to enjoy.  Sounds a bit odd but its great entertainment and if you're not careful--- you may learn something!

Web subjects Will reflect the requests of members.  If you are looking to work on some specific part of your coach, put in a request for information on that subject and we will post our suggestions and previous experiences for you on password protected pages for CMW associates only.  Your membership will allow us the time to compile this information and offer it to the members.  Each page (interior, exterior, mechanical, parts, services, etc.) will have a member page where we will post your requests on each category as well as interesting things we run into.

Special "member" pages  Many sections of the web sight will have pages password accessed for members only.  They will include in depth information on subject and things of interest in that particular category.  We will post answers to questions and subjects requested by members.  Knowledge is power so we will make available special "how to" projects helping you work on your coach more effectively and simply learn more about your coach

Technical support  In the past, I have been as available as possible for GMC owners to call in, talk directly to me about most any subject and I did my best to direct them and help.  This has been great satisfaction for me and a great help for many GMC owners but it has come at a price.  The more I split my time the less productive I am to the point that fielding the phone calls takes on the average of 3 hours per day of time away from the working of my business and answering Email questions takes a couple of hours of my off time daily.  As I said this is very satisfying and helpful to others but I need to control my time better and focus on affording the structure of the company and helping those that support the Co-op and its services.  By being a Co-op Member, I will continue to offer you direct personal access to me and all of the information systems we have provided in the past plus other new forums.  I'm not going to lock away the Co-op and be a snob for those in trouble because helping the GMC community is what we have found as the greatest need but we will spend the time it takes for Co-op Members supporting their needs more completely.  We want to be your networking source and members will benefit more from our efforts.  You will be given a personal password account that you will identify yourself as a CMW associate, ID yourself when calling or Emailing us and the Co-op resources will be at your disposal.

Communication  You will have 24-7 access to me personally (now don't call me at 2AM to ask about cheap gas prices) for questions and help with problems with your coach.  We have been able to help many on the road with breakdowns, parts access and the like.  We want to offer this service and more to Co-op Members.  You will have my personal cell phone number or other access to Co-op help at any time.

Loaners  No, we can't loan you the dumpster or Larry to use but look at it this way:  You're somewhere thats close to the edge of the earth and you need to replace a front wheel bearing.  Well of course you should have a wheel puller in your ditty box for just such occasion but say you left it in the tow car back at the house.  OK, give me a call, I've got one of those "wiz bang" Daren Paget wheel puller tools and I'll be happy to ship it out to you with the bearing and all the other parts that ate themselves.  Maybe you need an torsion bar alignment tool or a door straightening jig, you pay the freight and you will have access to them.  Hey guys, the alignment machine and truer are too big to ship, come on by & we'll do that stuff together.

Recognition  Throughout the year, the Co-op prints up pens, bumper stickers, calendars, yada, yada, yada to promote the business.  You will be on the mailing list to receive these items free of charge.  We will be offering a stitched patch for charter members for your hat, jacket, or shirt.  You can put it anywhere and wear it with pride (all I ask is to not sew it over a hole in your shorts!).  When we attend rallies, you are invited to participate in the demonstrations and seminars, maybe even get involved and help.  Wear dirty cloths and you can hang out at the booth and make a buck or 2 working with us.

Future specials for members  As we grow we expect to offer more special services for CMW associates, what they will be is anyone's guess.  If we can afford to do it, we will - how is that.  I truly love working with the GMC community and enjoy every day (well almost every day) at the Co-op.  Its a dream come true for me having the Co-op and I want others to have the fun I have of being involved themselves.

So, how do I join?

Great, thought you'd never ask, Email me on the Member Registration and note me at the bottom to contact you for your charge info or include that info (if you prefer) and I will charge you that way.  You can also call me on the toll free Tech line (1-877-275-4462) and give me the info.  We will be preparing introduction packets for charter members soon and as soon as we switch on the member only pages, we will be off and running.  I think we will leave the site totally open through Jan. 31, 2003 to give you and others a chance to see our new format but soon after that, the Co-op "CMW" members will have password access to those special pages.

  So, what's it cost?

The annual fee is $40 US.  Not to sound like an "infomercial" but I bet I can save you more than that the first time you have a problem (and you know you will have at least one at some point!).  Thats alote of money and I promise to do my best to make it well spent.  Cooperative Motor Works has proven networking people, parts & services is a needed service.  We have built our business on that very platform and with your help we can take the idea further.  Another way to think about it is this, we update our sits almost daily, giving you fresh input, ideas and "how to" stuff constantly, this is year round cheap entertainment & I use the word GMC alote - now where else can you rub elbows with the word GMC in every paragraph!?  Kidding aside, this was hard to decide on but in the long run, it will be a win-win for those truly interested in their coach & supporting the GMC community - I believe that and will work hard for you if you will commit to help us put it together.

So, there you have it.  This program is the product of years of listening to customers, watching the needs of the community and acting upon them.  Thanks for reading through our plan and I hope it will be something you will want to be involved with.  If you are interested in joining, give us a call on the toll free line (1-877-275-4462), we'll sign you up and give you a password right then.

Thanks for your time,
