OK guys, there you are, a paragraph with “GMC Motorhome” in it more than once…… I just had to get that out. …
Hi, for those that are new, my name is Jim Bounds. Yes, the one and only… well that’s not exactly true… my uncle is also burdened with the jim Bounds laboe, he also lives here in Orlando, he and my aunt Lynn all go to the same doctor AND the same phamasist. Yes, there have been issues over the years but be that as it may be… I wanted you to get a flavor of how I plunk words here on this “Daily Pose” blog site. This has been pretty much a phycological staple for me putting out stuff here for it has to be over 15 years now.
It started out a way I could interract with folks having work here in the shop. They could see things about their project, I could show them things I needed to for them to be a part in the process. It worked great, in fact it got around I was doing this on a quasi-daily basis…. BTW, this may also give you a taste of hoe bad my spelling is. Look, my Mom was a research librarian… I grew up in a library, diapers changed by librarians, first job cleaning films in the art and music department of…. yes the downtown library. Of course I was in several writing classes. They found me to be prolific but as far as grammar, spelling, using slang and coloquial word and phrases, I pladurized famous movie lines and basically bluted out verbage … had good ideas but the drlivery was unrefined. So, there it is… a complete description of how you will read here and probably other places on our web site. If I had anything to do with it there will be a gimme or hey you’all watch chis…. Do fear I’m being kidnapped and forced to speak in riddles… it’s just me!
After this long, we have had to make progress and we have… now there are many of you bumping along with my southern prose trying to put in words how much fun we are having here at this business. I call it a business but I look at it as more of a progression of my hobby shop out back where I would go to deprogram after a week of consumer electronics sales. When I found the GMC Motorhome I blew off the electronics career… opening Circuit City stores topped out and I was not in for pressure sales so it was time for me to jump to do something I always wanted to do. Restoring and making vintage RV’s was not even on my radar but one day there it was and I fell head over heals… quit my ratrace job, closed my eyes and took the next step forward in my life. I was truly stepping out on that “thin limb”. In 1991, every GMC still on the road was burn orange, beautiful peagreen, avocado sinks, shag carpet and many were fitting with the very best 8 track or cassette that was out. Truly pieces of dated work!
From there “The Dream’s Alive” has gone were no man had ever imagined they would go. This is not the place to talk about how that all happened, I could because I was there. Yep, once I was the young whippersnapper in the community… now, well it’s different. Do anything long enough and you have a greater chance to figure things out, I see that as one of my assets and why we are here today. The Co-op and before that CLASCO Manufacturing has been here and been a part of where we all are today. I am honored to be a part of such a group and community. It’s been a long struggle but today, classic vintage RV’s and especially the GMC motorhome is enjoying a rebirth if you will, being rediscovered and reintegrated into the lifestlye of todays RV enthusiast.
For my this is nothing but exciting and long time coming. Retro is not only here to stay but through the style the next generation is getting it. Why spend $ tearing down something that caused a carbon footprint only to expend even more energy and stomp another big carbon footprint when we finally understand we are crbon footprinting the world out of existance! Recycle, reuse, reinvent and if you can do that in a great looking machine well then, why not!
THAT’S what this mess is all about, getting the most from your recreation dollar at the same time having something custom made to your tastes….. at the best cost possible. A motorhome is expensive—- you betcha but you have a choice to spend your money in smart places. No one is telling you there has to be a mortgage on that set of wheels out there for you to enjoy the open road, our national park system and all the places in our great land.
A vintage RV, outfitted properly and with you having your head screwed on properly to work with such a machine…. man, so many great things are possible. You can be happy and roll with the things that happen in your life or you can look for reasons to be unhappy and blame everyone but yourself for where you are in life. If you are of the first persuasion give us a call, if you are that other person a vintage RV will be disappointing to you so please don’t get involved in this and certainly don;t call me. We are here to enjoy life, move forward and see what messes we can get into and THAT is the focus of this “Daily Pose” blog page.
As often as I can, I will post things of interest going on here at the shop. Faithul to our original mission, I will post information and pics on in house project mixing in some information and tips your you. This is a good place for me to interract with customers and give the rest of you a first person look at what goes on around here.
So enjoy, we will try and do as much entertainment for you as we can, may be every day… may not but rest assured plunking here is always on my mind and it’s as much for you as it is for me. Thanks for dropping by today and I hope to see you nore in the future…….. Viva LaGMC…
